  I would stay away from Mike. We engaged with Mike for a major renovation job. At each step of the way, we felt like we were paying for rework to be done when changes that were requested at previous meetings were not done to our satisfaction.
  
  We persevered because we had a plan in mind and we did admire aspects of Mikes vision. But the process was longer than we would have desired.
  
  The final straw came when the quote for work that Mike was paid to organise came in at over triple the original budget. Mike denied knowledge of a budget but we did tell him when we started, and besides what Architect allows himself to work without a budget?
  
  We have subsequently had to scramble and organise the renovations ourselves at great cost of our time - which was something we had planned to avoid. We only removed one of the ideas that Mike came up with, and we added a large deck area. The result has been that the job has come in at significantly less that our original budget and with us having 100% satisfaction with the job being done. Its taking it out of us personally, and we have no life between organising renovations and our day jobs. But we have saved around 3 years of our net salaries by doing it ourselves and by modifying the work we required.
  
  We were going to leave it be, but after ceasing to work with him, and with us seeking a correction to the structural engineering work that was required, Mike has refused citing differences between us and refused to correct the work. As such we have chosen to air our grievances for the wider public to consider in their choice of architect.
