This means that new and exciting art works arrive regularly at the gallery, and can be seen in exhibitions and online. A few of the regions where Aboriginal artists live and work include Utopia, Yuendumu, Ampilatwatja, Arnhem Land, Iwantja, Lajamanu, Mt Allan, Kalumburu, Mowanjum, Spinifex, Wangkatjungka, and Warmun. Artworks are ethically sourced, and Japingka Gallery is an active member of both Art.Trade and the Australian Federal Government’s Indigenous Art Code, which aims to ensure best practice for the Aboriginal art industry. The story associated with each of the paintings, often based on traditional Aboriginal knowledge from Dreamtime lore or Jukurrpa, is provided where possible, along with the artists biography, information on region and a signed Certificate of Provenance. Japingka Gallery is a specialist Aboriginal Art gallery housed on two levels of the heritage 1880s warehouse building at 47 High Street in Fremantle, Western Australia. The ground floor gallery presents a broad cross-section of Aboriginal art from leading artists and regions. The two upstairs galleries present new exhibitions every six weeks from Indigenous emerging and established communities and artists. The gallery directors have over 29 years experience working with contemporary Aboriginal artists.
